Zombie Apocalypse Mode
I don't know about you guys, but I often feel like everybody is in Zombie Apocalypse mode right now 🧟♂. There's so much that's going wrong in the world, and at the end of the day, how much impact can a single person have? Well, as it turns out, a lot. We can grow stronger communities, purely by who we support with the money we spend 💸💸💸.
If we choose to shop local, we're taking achievable actions to increase our resilience, and that's so important in our highly interconnected world. We don't want to make ourselves dependent on products and services from far away places, especially if we're living in such an isolated city like Perth 🏜!
Quality of life
We're the lucky ones, who live in one of the highest ranking cities for quality of life. Supporting local businesses enables the sustainable growth of our communities, which will keep us safe in the long run, and protect our quality of life. Perth is the city we live and work in, so we better make sure it's a great place to call home 🏡.
Choosing who we spend our money with is an action we can take every single day of the year. It can also do a lot more good than you'd expect, thanks to something called the local multiplier effect.
The Local Multiplier Effect
For example, we're a 100% local, Perth-based company. We're all about making it easier to find creative & locally-owned businesses & showcasing local artwork. But we didn't stop just there. We also had our books printed locally in Perth. We purchase our compostable packaging from an Australian company and host our website through a carbon neutral Australian hosting solution 🌱.
And we aren't the only ones doing that! Many local small businesses often utilise the services of other small businesses in the community, which leads to an extremely valuable re-circulation of money 👌.
